Ms. Lee was my favorite teacher and now will forever be a good friend. She came into my life when I was struggling and having a hard time finding myself. Through her I found myself, things I am passionate about and my calling. She never gave up on me through the three years I was in her class. I will never forget the day that I was in a bad place in my life and was feeling very defeated. When she noticed, the first thing she did was pull out a note card from her desk and she shared a sentence with me quoted from Nelson Mandela. "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall". From that day, I decided that I would not let my circumstances define who I wanted to become and instead I would learn form all my past mistakes and rise up from there, all due to one quote and one woman. She's the woman who drove all my classmates and I crazy, the woman who would stay up late hours just to set up presentations and guest speakers for us and the one I can truly say gave us a quality classroom experience. She pushed us to be the best we could be and then pushed further. She set the bar higher because she knew what great potential, we all had within us. She has handed me such amazing opportunities that I otherwise would have never been able to get my hands on. Because of her hope in me and persistence, I am now a young women filled with so many open doors and a whole lot of faith that anything can happen. Ms. Lee is no doubt the best thing that has happened. She is a life changer forever!

Mrs. Lee-Rogers and I go way back to my freshman year of high school when I was selected to join Pine Ridge High School's Healthcare Academy, where she served as director. That opportunity was one of the best things that could have happened to me, as it introduced me to a mentor and role model who would become a lifelong friend. Mrs. Lee-Rogers was the one who lifted me during times of failure, helping me see that when one door closes, a bigger one is waiting to open. Many of the accolades, accomplishments, and experiences I’ve had since then are due, in large part, to her guidance and support. She was there for me throughout high school and has been there for me in college, and I know she will continue to be there as I move on to medical school and beyond. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been under her leadership, and I wish everyone could experience the privilege of having such a remarkable mentor.

You will never understand how thankful my husband and I are for the love, patience, and encouragement you have poured unto our son David. Little did I know that sharing a class with you in church, would lead my son David to meeting you and changing his life in such a positive way. As mom I was at my whit’s end, not knowing what else to do to encourage David to either return and continue college or find employment. After attempting seeking employment on his own and realizing he was ill equipped, he skeptically agreed to meeting you.
He eventually decided to follow your suggestions and began searching for jobs openings online. I believe his first submissions were for Walmart and Publix! He got called 4 times from Walmart for the same position and each time was told to expect a call back, which never happened. He then understood the reason why one should apply to as many job opportunities. By doing so, he got a few calls back, and one of them was a call from Publix for an interview. He accepted an interview on the same day of the call and upon his return we learned he was set to train in two days. May 2025 will be his one-year anniversary.
As parents we have seen David flourish. He’s more talkative with us when he gets home and tells us about his day. With so many years of Boy Scouts and becoming an Eagle Scout, he truly lives out the Scout Law. Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. He’s learned to set aside his fear of talking to people, outside his familiar circle. I have received much positive feedback from people we know and that frequent the store He works at, as well as from his coworkers when we’ve stopped by. The Publix Staff love him. He is always willingness to help. He makes himself available to work on short notice when someone cannot make their shifts. He is a man of consistency. David will never be late for work, it his routine to get to work one hour before his start.
Again, we are thankful for your Gift Ms. Ranae. We appreciate you sharing your gift and knowledge and connections with other young adults, so they can learn to recognized and polish the potential that they already have inside and therefore be equipped to navigate in this ever-changing world with confidence
